Lifting the Lid: What’s Now & What’s Next

2024 began with a bold leap forward for .UNLID. Dance Theatre. After presenting an early section of F5 at the Singapore International Dance Festival 2024, we returned to Melbourne energized and inspired—ready to expand the work into a full-length performance.

Now, we’re excited to share that the final two sections of F5 will be performed internationally for the first time this year, as we head to Hong Kong for the WDAAP Annual Conference & SWEAT Hong Kong International Dance Workshop Festival.

Themed “Cultural Sequences: Asia-Pacific Choreographic Discovery,” this festival showcases work that reimagines cultural narratives and explores themes such as migration, tradition, digital transformation, and environmental change. We’re honored to represent Australia at this gathering of boundary-pushing artists from across the Asia-Pacific.

We also welcome Carla Formoso to the UNLID team for our Hong Kong tour—bringing a fresh energy and new perspective to this growing work.

F5: From Initial Ideas to International Stages

F5 first premiered as an early section at the Singapore International Dance Festival, performed by Bridget Lyte and Mollie Harrison. The piece resonated with themes of identity, movement, and intersection, receiving powerful feedback from international audiences.

Since then, we’ve developed F5 into a full evening-length work, which had its official Melbourne premiere at Arnold Street in January, and later toured to Clayton. Now, we’re thrilled to bring this expanded version to Hong Kong.

In addition, we’ve partnered with Breaking Ballerina Productions to create a screendance adaptation—expanding F5’sreach beyond live performance and into digital realms, allowing audiences across the globe to experience the work.
